Mass Premier Courts
2012 Spring & Fall AAU Program
Spring Tryout Format:
We will have 2 separate tryouts for each age
group. Each age group will have a
tryout for the Elite/Gold Team first. Once the Elite/Gold Team has been
selected a tryout for the Blue Team will take place. This allows players who do not make the
Gold Team an opportunity to tryout for the Blue Team. If a coach is in place prior we can put
multiply Blue teams together in the same age group. Please take the time to evaluate your son
or daughter and determine if they should attend the Elite/Gold Team tryout or
only attend the Blue Team tryout. It is important to take into consideration
that there is a higher commitment level required for the Elite/Gold Team. Participating on the Blue Team is still
a very competitive experience and players will still have the opportunity to
develop through many tournaments and practices. All players not selected for a team will
be invited to play in the developmental league. Details Below.

Elite Team
Mass Premier Elite teams are given this title ONLY
after finishing in the Top 4 of the Division 1 states. These teams will compete at the highest
possible level, recruit talented players and the goal every year is to win a
state title and travel to nationals.
They practice two days per week and play in between 8-10 tournaments
plus a national tournament (if the team/coach chooses to travel) The cost of
this program is the same as the Gold team plus an additional $50.00 per player.
Gold Team
The Gold Team is the most competitive team at each age
level. (unless an elite team exists) Gold teams will be playing in each
tournament to win. It is necessary
for players who play on the Gold Team to be highly committed. Teams will practice twice a week and
practice participation will be expected (policy will vary depending on coach). Gold
Teams are required to participate in the state tournament. Gold teams will often participate in
tournaments outside of MA as well (travel will vary depending on coach). Gold teams are for developed players
that are very serious and committed.
All Gold team coaches will have a previous coaching
background. Some Gold team coaches
will be paid (depending on age group).
If a Gold Team qualifies for Nationals the team will have a meeting with
parents to determine appropriate travel plans for Nationals. The goal of the gold team is to achieve
Elite status.
Blue Team
The Blue Team is a competitive AAU team. Blue Teams will find a balance between
being extremely competitive in tournaments and developing players through
practice and game play. Blue Teams
will typically travel somewhat locally to off site
tournaments (travel will vary depending on coach). Teams
will practice twice a week (some blue teams only practice once per week per
coach decision) and practice participation will be expected when available (policy
will vary depending on coach). Blue Teams will be required to
participate in the state tournament.
If a Blue Team qualifies for Nationals the team will have a meeting with
parents to determine appropriate travel plans for Nationals.
White Team
COACHES:
Looking to house your team somewhere and have guaranteed practice
time? If you have a team already
put together and would like the administration help and gym space that Mass
Premier courts can offer we are looking to house your team. Contact Michael Vaughan at coachv@mpcourts.com for
details. Receive all the benefits
of a gold/blue team and your son/daughter plays free. Plus all players registration fee is $35.00.
DEVELOPMENAL LEAGUE
AAU has become very
competitive. Every year we see the
level of talent of our teams increase greatly at every level. With this increase in talent some
players that are late developers or are new comers to the game can get left
behind with nowhere to play. Plus we
have seen parents make a large investment for their son or daughter to be
teamed up with players that are not ready to compete at the AAU level and spend
many weekends seeing their teams lose by large margins.
We have created a program just for
you. Players who are not selected
for a Gold or Blue team are automatically invited to the Developmental
League. Players can also elect to
play in the developmental league and not try-out for either team. This is great for a multi-sport
athlete. You will receive most of
the same benefit as playing on a team.
- Practice one day per week. Each practice session will end with
a scrimmage.
- Free Open Gym at Mass Premier Courts
(when courts are not being used)
- Reversible Uniform
- MPC Staff and Volunteer coaches will
run practice and games.
- In April and May each team will play
one game on Sunday nights (6)
- Teams will play in 2 AAU tournaments
in June. Both Locally
- Cost of Program $350.00
- 50% discount on MPC summer basketball camps
- Must register before May 15th
to receive discount
Fall Program
Our Fall AAU program is set up to be more of a
pre-season to our spring season.
There are not different levels of teams (Gold, Blue, and White)
as there is in the spring.
Instead each age group will have a minimum of 1 team and if there is
more than one coach for an age group and enough players try out more teams will
be made. The team that you try out
for in the fall of 2011 should be the same team that you will try out for in
the spring of 2012 (for both boys and girls). All teams will have
optional practice one time per week. Please note that the coaches listed
on our coaches page are the spring coaches and may not
be an accurate list of our fall AAU coaches. They will play in four (4) tournaments
all in MA and RI.
